On February 4th, we embarked on an exciting birding expedition to Hadinaru Lake and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary. The trip was initiated by the keen interest of some children in our birding group who were fascinated by the Bar-headed Geese they saw in photos. Determined not to disappoint their enthusiasm, we decided to visit these birding hotspots.

We started our journey early in the morning from Bangalore and reached Hadinaru Lake, located conveniently close to the city. As we arrived, the children's excitement was palpable. We were greeted by the serene beauty of the lake, and soon our attention was drawn to the graceful Bar-headed Geese gracefully gliding across the water. The children were thrilled to see these magnificent birds up close, and their enthusiasm was infectious.

After spending ample time observing and photographing the Bar-headed Geese, we proceeded to explore the diverse avian life at Hadinaru Lake. Our sightings included a variety of bird species, including the majestic Bonelli's Eagle, Indian Thicknee, Spoonbills, Marsh Harrier, Blue-tailed Bee-eaters, Yellow Wagtail, Cotton Pygmy Goose, and Garganey. Each sighting brought excitement and joy to the children, who were eager to learn more about the birds and their habitats.

Following our birding adventure at Hadinaru Lake, we made our way to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, a renowned haven for avian enthusiasts. Here, amidst the lush greenery and tranquil waters, we encountered a plethora of bird species, adding to the richness of our birding experience. The sanctuary offered us glimpses of various waterfowl, waders, and resident and migratory birds, further enhancing our appreciation for nature's wonders.

As the day drew to a close, we reflected on the memorable experiences we had shared and the incredible diversity of bird life we had witnessed. Our trip to Hadinaru Lake and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary had not only fulfilled the children's dreams of seeing Bar-headed Geese but had also deepened our connection with the natural world. It was a day filled with excitement, discovery, and the joy of birding, leaving us eagerly anticipating our next adventure in the great outdoors.
